Overview
The room is split into 4 parts from North to South. Ling Liu's students are in the north, Calton Pu's students are in the north central, a common area is in the south central, and Karsten Schwan's students are in the south. We have lab managers for each of the areas. If there are machine issues in a particular area, please contact a lab manager for that area:
| Area | name | |
|---|---|---|
| North | Gong Zhang | gzhang3 @ cc |
| North Central | Young Koh | young @ cc |
| South Central | Any of the lab managers | |
| South | Jay Lofstead | lofstead @ cc |
If any machine becomes surplus, Sankaran Sivathanu (sankaran @ cc) has priority for getting it for his desk.

Troubleshooting hints:
Fix resolution on LCD panels:
remove the two lines:
HorizSync 31.5 - 37.9
VertRefresh 50.0 - 70.0
from /etc/X11/xorg.conf on the affected machines. If you do it that way, they will be using the xorg "nv" driver, which has no 3d acceleration. I did this on aragorn, if you want to see the results. You could also install the nvidia binary driver (you can download at nvidia.com), which has 3d acceleration and is overall faster, but an X11 update or kernel update will break it, and you will have to reinstall.
