I'm occasionally asked about the datasets used to generate the results in my GPS papers. Due to IRB requirements, I can't give out data collected from other people, but here you can download my data set: dan.dat.bz2.
It's in the form of an ASCII text file that looks like this:
47.37573, 8.54923, 08/19/02, 14:35:58 47.37573, 8.54922, 08/19/02, 14:35:59 47.37573, 8.54918, 08/19/02, 14:36:00 47.37573, 8.54917, 08/19/02, 14:36:01 47.37573, 8.54915, 08/19/02, 14:36:02 47.37573, 8.54913, 08/19/02, 14:36:03 47.37573, 8.54912, 08/19/02, 14:36:04 47.37573, 8.54910, 08/19/02, 14:36:05
The data is formatted like so:
latitude, longitude, month/day/year, hour:minute:second
I think the data is in the local timezone for where it was collected, but I'm not 100% certain about that anymore (as you can see, it's been many years since I collected it…).
The data (consisting of 369,770 lines in the file) covers two time periods: the first 96,118 lines in the file are from September 25, 2001 to December 14, 2001 and cover the Atlanta, GA, USA area; the remaining 273,652 lines are from August 19, 2002 to December 1, 2002 and cover parts of Europe, largely Zürich, Switzerland.
